Duchesne County

Duchesne County starts at the west gate of the Uintah Basin and extends to its heart. It sits at the base of the Uintah Mountains and is watched over by Noreeta which is a part of the great Uintah Mountains.

Duchesne County is home to Utah's largest wilderness area.
Over 500 crystal blue lakes and 400 miles of pure mountain fed streams make Duchesne County a paradise for outdoor activities.
 

The state's highest mountain, Kings Peak (13,528 feet), is located in the Duchesne County's Uinta Mountains. Major streams running through the county include the Strawberry, Duchesne, Lake Fork, and Yellowstone rivers.

The High Uintas Primitive Area, situated in the northern portion of the county, is dotted with some of the most beautiful alpine lakes anywhere in the West.



The Uintas are also the major source for four important rivers: the Bear, the Weber, the Provo, and the Green.
